Plasti Dip (for home made contact mics, hydraphones, fun)

For anyone interested in getting some plasti dip to insulate/shield/protect your home made contact mics/hydraphones etc, ebay seems to be it's last place of refuge in Australia:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PERFORMIX-PLASTI-DIP-FLEXIBLE-RUBBER-DIP-BRU...

I tried calling some of the resellers/stockists listed on their home page, but they don't appear to stock it anymore, and the ones that actually have a few lying around cost far too much (about 60 bucks!!!!!), so feebay is the cheaper option surprisingly, but the P&P is where they nail you. But it is apparently "fun" (?!) to use.....(according to their web page....)

But as I found out myself, even with this stuff on ebay, it's really hard to get it in the post...as it's a dangerous item! Performix wouldn't even send it to me.I have some at home, only because I got myself over to Ballarat and bought some. The 4wd super store that the maker lists as a stockist do it.

BTW: if you do get a hold of can....wear a proper chemical fumes mask, otherwise you really will give yourself cancer. Xylene I think it is, is seriously bad news. Smells good though (like petrol) ...damn it!

Cool, thanks for the link!, will check that one out. I gave one of those 4WD stores on the list a call (the coburg one), and they no longer stock it unfortunately, I'll buzz em again to see if they'll transfer from store to store (ballarat is too far) ...
