the soundboard

..because we can

Last year I started a club for Sound students.  It's been a handy thing to have, since it gave us access to

a) the Clubs & Societies equipment: PA; decks; mics, including dedicated clip-on drum mics; a shitload of mic stands and leads; staging etc; and

b) funding: we got several grand last year which paid for things like the graduate show; graduate CD; poster printing; PA hire & mixing fees for a big party we put on etc etc.  It also pays for the hosting of this here website.

I've graduated but it'd be real sweet if the Sound Club didn't die.  All it needs is for a few students to be office bearers.  Apart from that it can be as active or inactive as you want.  We only had about 3 informal meetings last year, all over beer and snacks, and mostly used it as a source of fund and equipment.  It has more potential than that*, but doesn't need to be a big commitment unless anyone wants it to be.

If you're interested send me an email at michael.pulsford@gmail.com or reply to this post or something.

* e.g., putting on lunchtime concerts, collaborating with First Site to put events on in their front bar, CD releases etc..

Hey Hava,

Still in progress! I got some great submissions, but I went overseas as soon as I finished uni, which delayed things, and since I got back it's been one thing after another. It'll still happen though; it's at the top of my list once I submit a grant application on March 15.

Are you still in Europe? How's it going?
