..because we can

So at the Sound Club meeting there were about four or five of us interested in arts writing, and in getting some kind of publication together. I know there's a writer's collective at RMIT but I don't know much about them. I'll make enquiries. We might be able to work with them, or if not, to start a collective of our own focused on arts writing.

James suggested we make something this semester in any case, because we can use the experience and the physical evidence it creates to add weight to any future funding applications we might make.

Richard suggested having plenty of interviews, and making use of interviews done for the proposed radio show: excellent idea.

Someone whose name I didn't catch suggested including a CD: also a good idea, if the money's there.

There was various discussion about the merits of zines vs e-zines, with a leaning towards the physical zine. As far as budgets go, there's a few hundred dollars available to clubs for printing in any given year. We can work with that for now..

(Oops: gotta duck out: hitting send.)

an idea for an interveiw I have is to talk to either an individual or selection of composers/ sound artists/ bands/ buskers, whatever and just ask them about thier approach to composition or their general sound art practice. this idea is taken from a book im reading at the moment titled 'songwriters on songwriting'. I find this stuff really interesting. as I think any composer does. also enclosed could either be a link to a piece that the person has composed or yeah a cd with one of their compositions....
