..because we can

I just uploaded 2 new tracks that are a few years old now. Drum Programming 3 came from a series of works I produced after listening to a lot of Aphex Twin and was an exercise in moving away from using pre-prepared drum loops. Every note in this song was placed individually with the mouse using Reason 2.5. I wanted to get away from the repetitive nature of electronic music yet maintain some sense of order.

Experiment 2 was written even longer ago when I still had a pc and used a piece of free software that uses fractal algorithms to generate music through midi. I had 4 instruments set up to play a pentatonic scale using the Lorenz fractal algorithm that was fairly random and generative in nature. I was fairly happy to listen to this on it's own and then decided to record a section of it and add a very time stretched drum loop to the mix to add a bit of contrast and interest to the piece.

Happy listening.
