Re: Orchestral Tools Black Friday Sale - 50% off Main Series

"What makes you think that?" There was this big announcement on vicontrol that something big is coming our way in december. Speculation is running wild. But if it is one if their biggest releases it might be something bigger then just one orchestral section. So this sale feels a bit oddly...

Re: Orchestral Tools Black Friday Sale - 50% off Main Series

A bit delayed in the sense that it is later than the intended release date (which, contrary to some speculations never was "a year ago"). I'm afraid I genuinely do not know when it will be released, could be next year, I really don't know. My impression is not that it is much delayed, hone...

Re: Orchestral Tools Black Friday Sale - 50% off Main Series

I'm still waiting for OT to release an improvement update for their Berlin Strings library, so far this hasn't happened. I won't be purchasing anything from them until they release this update. The update is a bit delayed, because it will be more extensive than planned and had a HUGE lot of testing...

Re: Spitfire / Autograph Grand (free LABS library)

I think this is an example of the trend of "one trick pony ultra artisan product" where you take something and make it into something that works completely different from how it would usually work, just for the sake of being different. The value lies not in the product itself, but in the w...

Re: Cubase 12 released [DEMO NOW AVAILABLE]

Hi Larry! yes, your VE Pro 6 template will open fine in 7 and Cubase 11 projects open fine in 12 (and also fine in 11 again even after resaving. It is not particularly good practice, but I routinely switch projects between Cubase 9-12 and Nuendo, simply because I'm wayyyyyy too lazy to keep Cubase u...

Re: Black Friday 2021 (inc early deals)

Orchestral Tools is doing 50% OFF for the entire (I think) Berlin Series. A few days ago I grabbed Performance Samples Vista for sale - the deal was supposed to expire on 11 Nov, but the deal I think lasted through 15 Nov or so. It's unfortunately gone now. Just wanted to correct this: it is 50% of...

I had actually pondered with upgrading my Komplete 12 - but 0% discount compared to the normal update prices. No thanks.

Re: Black Friday 2021 (inc early deals)

I chuckled at that picture, too... I understand the need for striking visual imagary, but a viola da gamba really has very little to do with Vikings. But I guess that is a common topic - after all AC:Valhalla has quite little to do with true Viking raids-Era Scandinavia/British Isles, either (though...

Re: Spectrasonics: Omnisphere 2.8 and Sonic Extensions

I have no idea about their company structure. Eric probably has other income that trumps the Spectrasonics income a thousandfold. The rest might or might not be the same. If they don't have tons of full-time employees, don't have company locations, the company might have minimal running expenses. Vi...

Re: Spectrasonics: Omnisphere 2.8 and Sonic Extensions

haha, yeah, that doesn't really help the Elitist tag, indeed :) Though I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they genuinely do not see the issue or that it is not an issue for them. They might be in the royalties/passive income bracket that they really think "if you want all 4, you buy ...

Re: Spectrasonics: Omnisphere 2.8 and Sonic Extensions

I have Stylus and Omni, but have not reached for either for years - also at least partly due to the very weird license terms and just general interactions with the company. I'm sure they mean well, but I have found them not very approachable with questions and their reps come across often as quite e...

Re: Miroire - Period instruments and voices by Orchestral Tools

Overpriced and incomplete in my opinion....anyone else feel this way? No Harpsichord, No percussion...Sure OT has other products for that...but at this price....:( No harpsichord because there's Berlin Harpsichords and god known that look long enough to get right :) Similarly to timpani Berlin Perc...

Re: Orchestral Tools: Tom Holkenborg's Percussion

Again, remaining completely neutral on the product itself, but I can confirm that there is 0% marketing trick about THP. These are really his samples, recorded his way and programmed exactly as he likes them. This collection is 100% Tom. This applies to the Brasss, as well. While that was indeed rec...

Re: Orchestral Tools: Tom Holkenborg's Percussion

I am quite sure he meant it as a reply to me, since I mention the phrase "musicologist bullshit" in my post.
In any case - still would like to see that original post and still think all this is a terrific topic to discuss. too many assumptions on all sides, apparently, myself included.

This is why I deleted my first post in this thread. I got a bit angry and forgot that you can't write negative things about products in forums. You must be silent if you don't like something. I'm not capable of understanding what he was doing with this library, right? Explaining what an ethnic inst...

Re: Orchestral Tools: Tom Holkenborg's Percussion

My guess is simply that he wants Junkie XL to be for his EDM work, and his "real" name Tom Holkenborg for his film scoring stuff. There's precious few composers operating under a pseudonym, though I guess there's a good figure not actually using their real name. EDIT: I'm a musicologist by...

Re: Orchestral Tools / Tallin (Estonian voices and strings)

No, he is playing Sustains Soft without legato.
Note that the Articulation Options on the low right always correcpond to the articulation with the dot in front of it.
So he is playing Sus Soft, but it shows the settings for Sustains + LEG.

Re: Orchestral Tools / Tallin (Estonian voices and strings)

Well, if I see a video about a sample library, I expect all audio to be that one product only. Other of course than sounds clearly not from it, like voiceover, or effects.

But yeah - it is testament to how good the mockup is :)

I don't think we have to put a disclaimer in the video "we are not deceitful lying douchebags that defraud customers just to make sales". It should be a thing of honour not to do that. But I guess you're right... not everyone sees it that way :)

of course the Tallinn trailer is 100% sampled. It is not live, we would never do that without explicitely stating it.
