Re: VSL Synchron Strings I

that's when it was first released demo made with only the performance legato patch(and one bass pizzicato patch)

those aren't even the shorts, just the performance legato patches(probably using tree and ambient blended)

Re: VSL Synchron Strings I

Part of the appeal to me is that it promises to be a library that requires far less keyswitching or multiple articulations than most and more responsive to real time playing, like Samplemodeling instruments and some other newer ones. I feel like performance legato patches from spitfire are the ones...

Re: VSL Synchron Strings I

Seems like I can work - but it doesn't seem to jump out as being worth it. Might be one of those things where the library takes a little know-how and the early demos aren't really an indicator of the potential. Might also just be a weaker library for the synchron series - which will work if the othe...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

protip: you can double and stack consonants to make them louder and clearer. This is obviously something useful for any EWQL WB library

Re: Hollywood Choirs

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uq3sgw4uhvdeff9/modwheelhc.mp3?dl=0 that's a little verb + predelay + doubling just to make it a little wetter, using the mod wheel a little to get an idea of the dynamic range. The thing I liked about SC that is missing in this - is the fact that since velocity meant a lot...

It's got something weird going on with some consonants in the stereo field... the S in particular feels like an army of snakes in my left speaker

That's with no reverb

Re: Hollywood Choirs

ohh by the way.

"Symphonic Choirs users should not upgrade to PLAY 6 until after the next Word Builder update. Please check back soon."

that's something worth noting. Is it possible to leave play 5 if you download play 6?

Re: Hollywood Choirs

Maybe I'll Pony up the money to do a comparison using composer cloud. I just assumed that the point of discussing this so those of us who don't own it can get an accurate measure of the difference between the two. I'm sure both can produce excellent results, but I'm not convinced the improvements ar...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

Kyle, you didn't initially make that distinction. You said there was "no noticeable difference." Your exact words, and empirically wrong. That is all I wanted to address. if you're going to take me literally to the point that it's useless then by all means. but don't upload an intentional...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

Just catching up... Kyle, it's pretty unhelpful imo to say that Jay's A/B is worthless, it clearly isn't. Obviously it shows the spatial difference, and that Hollywood Choirs is much more present especially in the sopranos and altos, but perhaps most significantly there's a lot more vibrato with SC...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

basically, I think your example is insanely misleading. It's like(and I have seen this) someone take a solo trumpet patch from something, then line it up with sample modeling - and without changing a single CC, just playing straight on the keyboard with no dynamics. Both sound bad, but one is comple...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

its not about sounding alike, it's about sounding interchangeable. 2 seconds of tweaking a default phrase = already playable. in this case I have it sent to a reverb, but the end product would most likely have some sort of reverb anyways https://www.dropbox.com/s/3vsqkcicciu6e68/symphonicchoirs.mp3?...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

jay I know as well as you do, that example was worthless. It's quite clear you just copy pasted the midi, and didn't tweak whatever default WB's you were using. you could spend a few minutes getting the same quality out of both, that in a mix would be completely interchangeable. Especially with the ...

Re: Hollywood Choirs

I'm not even kidding, I think my ears are broken. I'm not seeing any noticeable difference between this and the old EWQL SC. Granted I have VOTA, the difference is so tiny that I'm so happy I didn't bother to wait around for it. Paolo, you'd better get working on some mean forte staccatos, so I can ...

just a reminder, this stuff is up for grabs.

that said, I've been without a job for 3 weeks now, so money is tighter than ever. willing to down to 250 for both, I'd be paying the 50$ license transfer fee - that lasts until I get a job

My GF bought me dominus for my birthday :3

I didn't miss out on ALL the black Friday deals.

ohh paoling, you sly dog you! Just as awesome as I thought it would be - though the UI is different than I expected, I can see advantages to making it that way.

Thanx Kyle for the comment/opinion about SSS coupled with SCS :)

Yeah I just lower the volume of one library until they work as divisi, to fill the void that left me when I used LASS.

one adds weight, the other adds definition

Re: Black Friday 2017

Spitfire Audio's "Black Friday collection" put Chamber Strings PLUS Symphonic Evos at 412 € ! Because I've already got SSS. Tempted despite lack of funds and considering it could be overkill - I could do with the ensemble collection, but it doesn't exist anymore. The chamber size is reall...

also, the AMA they did made me laugh(and cry) at the divorceware comment... I'm sure that's been said before, but I'd never heard someone refer to software like that
