Re: Black Friday - the essential guide

Thanks jtnyc - Spitfire added, along with several new fx sales through jrrshop. Probably worth keeping the specifics of the Sptiifre discussion to the Instruments and Libraries section - try the Spitifre thread here http://www.thesoundboard.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=49 , the shorts test here - htt...

Re: Black Friday - the essential guide

I hope we see something from ProjectSAM (even though they aren't a US company). I was kind of hoping they would release their promised 2015 update with a sale of some kind. I still need to get Symphobia 2 and Lumina. Didn't they at one point say they would have periodic discounts for existing custo...

Re: Black Friday - the essential guide

Added SampleTekk and Cinematic Strings deals. Does Spitfire Audio do Black Friday sales on any of their products? Specifically I'm looking at Albion One. Spitfire's policy used to be no sales except introductory ones, but that went out the window some time ago. From memory last year's Black Friday s...

Re: Black Friday - the essential guide

Maybe I should list my own rules for buying something (to remind myself at the dawn of the silly season as much as anything else) 1. Can it do something I can't already do? 2. Will it significantly improve my workflow? If neither, I really should avoid it. Those were my rules anyway. In truth I brea...

Black Friday - the essential guide

A thread for all the main deals condensed into a quick at-a-glance guide. These threads can get unwieldy, so let's not feel the need to update with every last tiny thing. I'll update this OP as more are announced. INSTRUMENTS & LIBRARIES Applied Acoustics - discounts across range @jrrshop s://ww...

Something to actually evaluate now - a vocal library with lots of editing options. Re: iZotope Ozone 7 - released

Oop, meant to reply to this. I'm new to Ozone at #7, so can't compare with earlier versions. As a piece of software its quite wonderful, love the workflow and especially the ability to A/B with the original VOLUME COMPENSATED, which is the biggest deal in the world. I'm not quite so euphoric about t...

Re: Native Instruments Symphony Series String Ensemble

Equally anticipating your thoughts Piet, especially how transitions sound with the ambient recordings. And very much in the same boat as Larry - my staples are LASS 2, CineStrings (and runs), Sable, Project SAM stuff, OSR and now Albion ONE. There definitely comes a point of diminishing returns for ...

PS- Man, it's such a relief being able to write what I really think over here... You most certainly can, Jack - and look how civil the place is! Freedom to speak freely does not thankfully equate with a noisy jungle. One point on that though - The Front Page here is viewable to everyone, all news a...

Re: VSL releases Vienna Suite Pro

Boy I'm in effects overload at the moment, having only just got Ozone 7 on top of all the Sonnox, Waves, NI, Zynaptiq etc I already own. So not for me, but I think you're right with Surround, that would seem to be the USP.

Re: Native Instruments Symphony Series String Ensemble

AUDIOBRO?!!!!! Blimey crikey, who saw that coming? No-one. I mean, we knew strings was coming, but not Audiobro. Functionality is LASS, massively simplified. Programming looks excellent, as I now expect from NI. Only 2 sections per instrument, but combined on the violins I see to give 4 voice auto-...

Re: OMNISPHERE2 Colossus By The Unfinished

Finally had a chance to get this and have a play. Made if half way through the ARPs before rushing here like a kid to gush. Lost track of the patches where I went "oh that's ****ing great". Love that many are designed to be relatively simple but JUST right, these will be so useful in score...

Re: Zynaptiq Unmix

Yes, agreed all round Jack, I was comparing Unveil with RX 5 dereverb this week on something and Unviel won by a mile. On other material though, it's a different story. But I'm always interested in what Zynaptiq do, true innovators.

Re: OMNISPHERE2 Colossus By The Unfinished

It has to be done, doesn't it? The price is on the high side (compared to the £120 I paid for the whole upgrade to Omni 2), but it's proportionately right compared to previous releases I think, given that this is so much bigger. And I don't mind paying for Matt's stuff cos it's so good, regardless.

Zynaptiq Unmix

Released today - http://www.zynaptiq.com/unmixdrums/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnPPPKPmcc0 I love Zynaptiq, always trying to do something genuinely new. I suspect this is rarely as magical as it sounds in the first example of the demo above, but I must give the demo a try. But if I'm honest in...
